Fortress of Solitude Fountain Pen Unboxing
Join me in unboxing the Superman “Fortress of Solitude” fountain pen and ink set from Ferris Wheel Press. The box art is attractive as per Ferris Wheel Press’ usual. The pen and ink are securely in the box. I did have a random little black smudge on the pen that quickly wiped off. I think it was from where it was setting in the box. The pen has a gold plated fountain pen nib in a medium.
The grip section features Superman and his fortress crystals. The Superman “S” or “winding river” is on the face of the pen nib. This fountain pen is equipped with Jowo housing and so the nibs are easily interchangeable! I have the 5 Nib Flight Set from so I can swap all sizes.
~NOTEWORTHY This is such an important detail with this pen! The grip section and nib have stunning engravings making one think it would be difficult to clean ink from. When in fact the ink wipes away easier than a lot of fountain pens I have used!
The nib took a second to start writing for the first time. I swirled the pen in the ink a lot for the video to show that the grip section cleans off easily. And I think all of that shimmer may have clogged the feed! But once it got started it had a great feel and flow. I haven’t had any flow issues since whatsoever. The nib on this pen has a lovely flow and am liking it even more than my Nevermore Noir Marquise pen.
The ink is one of the SPARKLIEST blue inks I have ever tried! It feels like you’re writing with ice and definitely deserves the name “Frozen Fortress.” I did notice that this ink dried a lot faster than some other shimmer inks from Ferris Wheel Press. (The Frozen Fortress ink is also available separate from the pen!)
