Poison Envy Shimmer Fountain Pen Ink : Ferris Wheel Press

Spooky season is here again and it thrills me to ink up with “Poison Envy” from Ferris Wheel Press’ “FerriTales” Collection. This is a purple fountain pen ink with a green/pink shimmer. The name and eerie box art tell the tale of the Queen/Witch from the tale of Snow White. A purple/green/pink combination is a most appropriate color combination for such a theme, no? I love how the ink spatters look like an apple being dipped in poison!
I chose to ink up with my Benu Euphoria “Vodka on the Rocks” fountain pen in a broad nib. I love the nib on this pen and using shimmer ink in a glistening pen is most satisfying. Ferris Wheel Press does recommend that you use a medium or broader nib with their shimmer inks. It helps to keep the shimmer flowing through the nib consistently. I have used the inks in smaller nibs and it does work but I would be more choosey as to the pen I would try that in bearing in mind having to clean it out! My Pilot Vanishing Point with a medium nib retained shimmer in from a Diamine ink for well over 6 months of constant use!

After playing with this ink it is a stunning grape purple. Not a dry ink, but on the drier side of the Ferris Wheel Press inks I have tried so far. It flows well on both Tomoe River Paper and Onion Skin Paper. I tend to prefer white Tomoe River Paper for everyday writing but The Onion Skin Journal Paper has such a lovely feel as you write that I’ve been using it more often. The shimmer in this ink absolutely pops on both papers.

Ferris Wheel Press managed to get a mystical looking finish and I think I’m going to enjoy writing with it through the fall. It will probably stay in one of my broader nibbed pens for everyday notetaking and the occasional letter writing.
