Ambrosia Indulgence & Writer’s Blood Fountain Pen Inks

After reviewing the Ambrosia Indulgence fountain pen ink from Ferris Wheel Press, I had a few people ask about the shimmer intensity. It look like there was less shimmer in the ink than usual. I grabbed the fountain pen I had inked and let a few drops flow from the nib. I can assure everyone that after looking at the dried sample that this ink is LOADED with shimmer! (See the video below for the glisten!)

I decided to grab my fountain pen with Writer’s Blood ink from Diamine, and expelled a few drops to compare the two inks. Oddly enough, I had some leftover gold shimmer in the pen from when I used Herbin, Hematite Rouge ink in the pen! It gave the Writer’s Blood a little bit of a gold glisten.

Looking at the two inks side-by-side the Ambrosia Indulgence is a lighter plum red, more of a wine color. The ink has a lovely flow, more on the wet side but not watery. The gold shimmer is astonishingly intense! This ink has a very romantic, rich look. It makes me think of Jane Austen movies!

Writer’s Blood has been my favorite red ink for a few years now. I bought it when it released and have been using it ever since! It is a deep plum red, so a burgundy that has a thicker consistency. It does not have shimmer (unless added!) Since I had leftover shimmer in my pen, the samples shown have a golden glisten.
