Description
“Donovan’s Picnic” quilt is made from an unfinished vintage quilt top I found at a market. It was small and greatly distorted, not only from time but poor piecing. It looked for all the world like one of those items that end up being thrown out and I couldn’t bear the thought. The fabrics were lovely with floursack prints depicting various novelties. I purchased it with the hope of giving it new life. After quite a bit of math I used the original top to the best of its abilities mixed with new fabrics to create “Donovan’s Picnic.”
My favorite projects are ones with challenge, and this lovely little quilt imposed one! This is a on-of-a-kind, original design.
New materials are 100% Cotton fabrics and batting.
45″ x 45″
It has been quilted by hand using a big stitch method and a free-form design. The back has a 4″ hanging sleeve.
The artist : Logan O’Bier has been a quilter for over 25 years and has been published for her work and designs in Primitive Quilts, American Patchwork & Quilting, Minick & Simpson as well as other publications.
